About
A collection of Victorian Gothic Revival and Art Deco buildings clustered around Mumbai's Fort and Marine Drive districts, recognised together as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2018 for representing two distinct architectural movements within walking distance of each other. The Gothic ensemble includes Bombay High Court, Mumbai University and Rajabai Clock Tower, built by the British in the late 19th century. The Art Deco ensemble along Marine Drive followed in the 1930s-40s as Indian architects embraced modernism. Together they form one of the densest concentrations of both styles anywhere in the world.
