About
A smaller fort adjoining Purandar Fort in the Sahyadri hills near Pune, historically linked to the 1665 Treaty of Purandar between Maratha king Shivaji and Mughal general Jai Singh I. Vajragad, meaning "Diamond Fort," served as a secondary defensive outpost supporting the larger Purandar stronghold above it. Its compact size and steep approach make it a shorter but still challenging trek compared to its larger neighbour. The fort remains free to visit with no formal ticketing infrastructure.
