About

A modest Peshwa-era palace in Pune's Kasba Peth, believed to have been the childhood home of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, though the surviving structure is a 1980s reconstruction after the original wooden palace was destroyed by fire in the 17th century. It sits adjacent to the Kasba Ganpati temple, considered the presiding deity of Pune city. The site holds strong symbolic significance in Maratha history despite its modest scale. It remains free to visit and closed on Wednesdays.
