About
A pedestrian-friendly heritage precinct in Mumbai's Fort area, named for a black stone statue of King Edward VII on a black horse that once stood here (the statue was removed after independence, but the name stuck). The precinct is lined with colonial-era buildings now occupied by art galleries, cafes and heritage institutions like the Jehangir Art Gallery and David Sassoon Library. It hosts the annual Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, one of India's largest urban public arts events. The area remains one of Mumbai's most walkable heritage districts.
