About

The largest Vaishnava temple in Manipur, built by Maharaja Nara Singh in 1846 beside the royal palace, twice damaged by earthquakes and rebuilt while remaining the spiritual centre of Manipuri Vaishnavism.

Did you know? The temple is closely tied to Manipuri classical dance, a UNESCO-recognised Indian classical dance form whose Ras Leela performances trace their devotional roots directly to rituals still performed at this temple.
