About
The sacred and political heart of the Meitei kingdom of Manipur for centuries, believed to be the earthly seat of the deity Pakhangba, until the British seized and partly demolished it after the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.
Did you know? Kangla was believed to be the literal dwelling place of Pakhangba, the mythical serpent-dragon ancestor deity of the Meitei people, giving this fort a religious weight closer to a temple than a typical royal citadel.
