A domed Bahá'í House of Worship completed in 1986, shaped like a lotus flower with 27 free-standing marble-clad petals arranged in clusters of three. Open to people of all faiths for silent prayer and meditation, it has no idols, sermons or rituals, only quiet contemplation. It became one of the most visited buildings in the world within a decade of opening. The structure's nine surrounding pools help cool the interior naturally.
