About
A Roman Catholic basilica in Shivajinagar, first built in 1832 and rebuilt in its current Gothic form in 1875, renowned for its elaborate annual feast in September that draws hundreds of thousands of pilgrims regardless of faith. Pope John Paul II elevated it to minor basilica status in 1973 in recognition of its religious significance. Its ornate altar and stained glass reflect strong French Gothic influence. It remains one of Bengaluru's most visited religious and heritage landmarks.
