About
The ruins of one of ancient India's largest and most important Buddhist stupas, built in phases between the 3rd century BCE and 3rd century CE, once ringed with intricately carved marble panels depicting the life of the Buddha.
Did you know? Many of Amaravati's finest carved marble panels were removed by 19th-century antiquarians and now sit in the British Museum in London, meaning the stupa's greatest surviving artwork is largely not at the stupa itself.
