A massive beehive-shaped granary built by the British in 1786 to store grain against future famines, following the devastating Bengal famine of 1770, though it was never actually filled with grain for its intended purpose.

Did you know? Golghar was designed with a serious flaw, its two staircases spiral in opposite directions and meet awkwardly at the top, reportedly discovered only after construction, and it was never actually used to store grain in an emergency.
