About
A cluster of 16th- and 17th-century churches and convents in Old Goa, the former capital of Portuguese India, that illustrate the spread of Christian art and Manueline, Mannerist, and Baroque styles across Asia. The ensemble includes the Basilica of Bom Jesus, home to the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, and the Sé Cathedral, one of Asia's largest churches.
Did you know? St. Francis Xavier's body, enshrined in the Basilica of Bom Jesus, was reported by 16th-century witnesses to have remained uncorrupted long after his death in 1552 — it's still displayed to the public once every ten years during the Exposition of the Sacred Relics.
