About

India's oldest and most prestigious art gallery, established in 1952 in Mumbai's Kala Ghoda precinct, has hosted exhibitions by generations of India's leading modern artists including M.F. Husain, S.H. Raza and F.N. Souza. Its four exhibition halls are rented to artists on a rotating basis, making it a democratic showcase for emerging and established talent alike. The gallery's modest, functional building belies its outsized influence on India's modern art movement. It remains a central node in Mumbai's contemporary art scene.
