About

A sprawling riverside Kali temple complex built by Rani Rashmoni over eight years, famous as the spiritual home of the 19th-century mystic Sri Ramakrishna, who served here as head priest.

Did you know? Rani Rashmoni built the temple partly on land shaped like a tortoise, considered auspicious for Shakti worship in Tantric tradition — an eight-year, nine-hundred-thousand-rupee undertaking in the 1840s and 50s.
