A 14th or 15th-century brick fortification built by the Chutia kings, its irregular brick walls giving Itanagar its name (from "Ita," meaning brick) and its oldest visible layer of history.
Did you know? Ita Fort gave the entire city of Itanagar its name, "Ita" meaning brick in the local language, a rare case of a modern state capital being named directly after one of its own ruins.
