About
One of the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hindu tradition, this hilltop temple has no image of the goddess to worship, instead centring on a natural rock cleft believed to represent her yoni, making it a major centre of Tantric practice.
Did you know? Unlike almost every other major Hindu temple, Kamakhya has no idol at its centre at all, worship instead focuses on a naturally occurring rock fissure, kept perpetually moist by an underground spring.
