Opulent metal-thread embroidery using gold and silver wire, sequins, beads and pearls stitched onto silk and velvet, a Persian-origin craft that flourished under the patronage of the Nawabs of Awadh in Lucknow.
Did you know? The word "Zardozi" comes from Persian, combining "zar" (gold) and "dozi" (embroidery), the craft nearly died out after royal patronage ended following independence, before being revived commercially in the mid-20th century.
