About
Opulent metal-thread embroidery using gold and silver wire, sequins, beads and pearls stitched onto silk and velvet, a Persian-origin craft that flourished under the patronage of the Nawabs of Awadh in Lucknow.
Did you know? The word "Zardozi" comes from Persian, combining "zar" (gold) and "dozi" (embroidery) — the craft nearly died out after royal patronage ended following independence, before being revived commercially in the mid-20th century.
