A centuries-old handloom saree recognisable by its distinctive "Tope Teni Sereghe" style pallu — attached using a unique technique that joins a different-coloured, coarser fabric to the finer saree body.
Did you know? Ilkal's signature red pallu is traditionally woven from a completely different, coarser yarn than the rest of the saree and then joined to the body using a special interlocking technique unique to this town.
