About
Known as the "Silk City" of India, Bhagalpur has woven wild Tussar silk for centuries, producing textiles with a distinctive rich, textured, slightly coarse feel and natural earthy gold tones unlike cultivated mulberry silk.
Did you know? Unlike mulberry silk, Tussar silk is harvested from silkworms that feed on wild forest trees rather than cultivated mulberry — making Bhagalpuri silk one of the few major Indian silk traditions rooted in forest-based rather than farm-based sericulture.
