An elaborate resist-dyeing and hand-block printing technique producing deep indigo-and-madder geometric and floral patterns, traditionally requiring up to 16 separate stages of washing, dyeing and printing to complete a single length of cloth.
Did you know? The word "Ajrakh" is believed to derive from "azrak," Arabic/Persian for blue — a nod to the deep indigo that dominates the craft, produced through a painstaking multi-day process of resist-printing and natural dyeing repeated in careful sequence.
