About
A gallery dedicated to the works of K. Venkatappa, a renowned Mysore-school painter and sculptor who served as court artist to the Mysore royal family in the early 20th century. Built adjoining the Government Museum in the 1970s, it houses his paintings, sculptures and personal artefacts alongside temporary exhibitions of contemporary Karnataka artists. The gallery offers a focused counterpoint to the broader collections of the neighbouring Government Museum. It remains a quieter, less-visited stop on Bengaluru's cultural precinct around Kasturba Road.
Did you know? Venkatappa Art Gallery is named after K. Venkatappa, court painter to the Mysore royal family, whose works span traditional Indian miniature painting and Western academic styles he studied in London.
